This IS NOT a full time replacement for the stock worksharp clamp. The stock clamp will work fine for most blades. Consider this attachment if the stock clamp gets in the way of your stone when sharpening certain blades.
This attachment requires more care and consideration to use so it may not be for everyone. Very Small or large knives may add difficulty. Ideal size knives are common EDC Folders.
This adapter attaches to the stock Worksharp arm. It utilizes a strong magnet rather than a clamp. The adapter height is also adjustable on the arm. This allows you to achieve very low sharpening angles.
You will need to use a digital angle cube to set a reliable angle. Do not rely on the Worksharp angle guide. This attachment makes those numbers inaccurate. This adapter is also compatible with my clamp arm brace.
I STRONGLY recommend using an angle cube. It will truly elevate your sharpening. I like to place the cube on the blade and zero the cube. Then I place the cube on the Worksharp rod to set my angle. My angle is relative to these positions but this way I know I will always sharpen with the same angle. ***Note*** If the stone you use is a diamond impregnated steel (stock worksharp stone), you may feel some magnetic force on the stone itself. I did not notice this to be significant enough to affect my sharpening. This is dependent on the angle you choose and how much stone contacts the blade.
To use:
- Loosen the arm bolt and remove the clamp jaws from the Worksharp arm.
- Reinstall the arm bolt with rectangular metal spacer in place.
- With enough slack in the bolt you will be able to slide the spacer into the bottom of the attachment.
- The circular protrusions on the end of the arm will fit inside of the indexing holes on the attachment. Choose desired height.
- Tighten the bolt as normal, firmly secure the attachment.
- Use the top blade fence to set two points of contact with the blade. Then when you flip the blade you can mirror the position.
FDM 3D printed from Atomic CF-PETG plastic. Very strong and durable. This listing is for the magnetic attachment only. You must have your own Worksharp Precision adjust to use this attachment. Photos are just for demonstration.
